Indulge in the sweet, nutty goodness of ladoo, a traditional Indian treat made from gram flour, ghee, and aromatic cardamom. Perfect for festive celebrations or a cozy afternoon snack with tea.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups gram flour (besan)
- 1 cup ghee
- 1.5 cups sugar
- 0.5 cup water
- 0.5 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 0.5 cup chopped nuts
- 1 tablespoon golden raisins
Method
- 1
Heat ghee in a heavy-bottomed pan on low heat.
- 2
Add gram flour (besan) to the ghee and roast it for about 10-15 minutes, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown.
- 3
In a separate bowl, mix the powdered sugar and cardamom powder together.
- 4
Once the gram flour is roasted, gradually add the sugar mixture and stir well to combine.
- 5
Add water slowly to the mixture and continue stirring until it forms a dough-like consistency.
- 6
Remove from heat and let the mixture cool slightly. Then, shape it into small round balls (ladoos) using your hands.
- 7
If desired, roll the ladoos in chopped nuts or garnish with golden raisins on top.
- 8
Allow the ladoos to cool completely before storing them in an airtight container.
