Indulge in the sweet, nutty flavors of Laddu, a traditional Indian treat made with gram flour, jaggery, and aromatic cardamom. Perfect for festive occasions or a cozy afternoon snack with tea.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup gram flour (besan)
- 1 cup jaggery (gud)
- 1/4 cup ghee
- 1/2 teaspoon cardamom powder
- 1/4 cup cashews
- 1/4 cup raisins
- 1/4 cup water
Method
- 1
In a pan, heat the ghee on medium heat.
- 2
Add the gram flour (besan) and roast it for about 5-7 minutes until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma.
- 3
In a separate pot, dissolve the grated jaggery in water over low heat to make a syrup.
- 4
Once the jaggery has dissolved, add the syrup to the roasted gram flour and mix well.
- 5
Add cardamom powder, chopped cashews, and raisins, mixing thoroughly until combined.
- 6
Remove the mixture from heat and let it cool slightly.
- 7
While it is still warm, shape the mixture into small balls (laddus) using your hands.
- 8
Allow the laddus to cool completely before serving.
