Indulge in the creamy delight of labneh, a Middle Eastern yogurt cheese drizzled with olive oil and sprinkled with za'atar. Perfect for a light appetizer or a refreshing dip at your next gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon fresh mint leaves
- 1 dash za'atar spice
Method
- 1
In a bowl, combine the plain yogurt and salt. Mix well until smooth.
- 2
Line a fine mesh sieve with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
- 3
Pour the yogurt mixture into the lined sieve and let it drain over a bowl for at least 4 hours, or overnight in the refrigerator for a thicker consistency.
- 4
Once the labneh is strained to your desired consistency, transfer it to a serving dish.
- 5
Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with chopped mint leaves and za'atar spice if using.
- 6
Serve with pita bread, fresh vegetables, or as a dip.
