Savor the warmth of homemade Kulcha, a delightful Indian flatbread infused with fresh herbs and a hint of sesame. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering, serve it alongside your favorite curry for a truly comforting meal.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 cup water
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 cup chopped fresh herbs (cilantro, parsley, or mint)
- 1 teaspoon black sesame seeds
Method
- 1
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, salt, and sugar. Mix well.
- 2
Gradually add warm water to the dry ingredients while mixing until a soft dough forms.
- 3
Knead the dough for about 5 minutes until smooth, then add 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil and knead for an additional minute.
- 4
Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
- 5
After resting, divide the dough into small balls (about the size of a golf ball). Roll each ball into a flat circle using a rolling pin.
- 6
Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little vegetable oil. Cook each rolled kulcha on the skillet for about 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- 7
If using, sprinkle black sesame seeds and chopped herbs on top while cooking.
- 8
Serve warm with yogurt or your favorite chutney.
