Savor the rich flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine with Kubba, a delightful dish of spiced ground beef and bulgur wheat, accented by pine nuts and cinnamon. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a special gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup bulgur wheat
- 453.6 g ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 2 tbsp pine nuts
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Method
- 1
In a bowl, combine bulgur wheat and water. Let it soak for about 15 minutes until soft. Drain any excess water.
- 2
In a skillet, heat 1 tbsp of olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add ground beef to the skillet with the onions. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spatula.
- 4
Stir in the cinnamon, salt, and pine nuts. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until everything is well combined. Set aside to cool.
- 5
Take a handful of the soaked bulgur and flatten it into a small disc in your palm. Place a spoonful of the beef filling in the center and fold the bulgur over to seal it, shaping it into an oval or ball.
- 6
In a large frying pan, heat the remaining olive oil over medium heat. Fry the shaped kubba until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes per side.
- 7
Remove from the pan and drain on paper towels. Serve warm with a side of yogurt or salad.
