Indulge in the comforting flavors of Kroppkakor, a Swedish potato dumpling filled with savory ground pork and onion. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner, these hearty delights are best enjoyed with a dollop of sour cream.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams potatoes
- 200 grams pork (ground)
- 1 medium onion
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 100 grams flour
- 1 cup water
- 1 tablespoon sour cream
Method
- 1
Peel and boil the potatoes until soft. Drain and let them cool slightly.
- 2
Mash the potatoes in a bowl until smooth. Allow to cool completely.
- 3
In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add chopped onion and ground pork, cooking until the meat is browned and the onion is soft. Season with salt. Let the filling cool.
- 4
Once the potato mash is cool, mix in flour gradually until you have a dough that is not too sticky.
- 5
Divide the dough into equal portions. Flatten each piece in your hand, add a spoonful of the meat filling in the center, and then fold the dough over to enclose the filling. Roll into a ball.
- 6
Bring a pot of salted water to a boil. Gently drop the kroppkakor into the water. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, or until they float to the surface.
- 7
Remove the kroppkakor from the water with a slotted spoon and drain well.
- 8
Serve hot with a dollop of sour cream on the side.
