Indulge in the delightful taste of Koblihy, a Czech treat that combines fluffy dough with sweet marmalade, perfect for a cozy brunch or festive gatherings. Dust with powdered sugar for an irresistible finish!
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup marmalade or jam
- 3 cups vegetable oil
- powdered sugar for dusting
Method
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- 2
In another bowl, whisk together the milk and the beaten egg.
- 3
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until a dough forms.
- 4
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep pan over medium heat.
- 5
Once the oil is hot, scoop tablespoon-sized amounts of dough and drop them into the oil. Fry until golden brown on both sides, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- 6
Remove the koblihy from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 7
While still warm, make a small hole in each koblihy and fill with marmalade or jam.
- 8
Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
