Experience the vibrant flavors of Korea with homemade Kimbap, a delightful roll filled with seasoned rice, fresh vegetables, and savory egg. Perfect for a picnic or a cozy weeknight dinner, it's a fun and healthy meal everyone will love.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups short-grain rice
- 2 tbsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp salt
- 4 sheets nori (seaweed)
- 1 carrot carrot, julienned
- 4 slices cucumber
- 4 slices pickled radish
- 4 slices egg, cooked and sliced
Method
- 1
Rinse the short-grain rice under cold water until the water runs clear. Cook the rice according to package instructions.
- 2
Once the rice is cooked, transfer it to a large bowl and mix in sesame oil and salt while the rice is still warm. Allow it to cool slightly.
- 3
Place a sheet of nori on a bamboo sushi mat, shiny side down. With wet hands, spread a thin layer of rice over the nori, leaving about 2 inches at the top edge.
- 4
Lay the julienned carrot, cucumber, pickled radish, and sliced egg in a line across the center of the rice.
- 5
Using the bamboo mat, roll the kimbap tightly away from you, pressing gently to keep it compact. Seal the edge of the nori with a little water.
- 6
Using a sharp knife, slice the rolled kimbap into bite-sized pieces. Wipe the knife with a damp cloth between cuts for clean slices.
- 7
Serve the kimbap with soy sauce or sesame oil for dipping, if desired.
