Savor the rich flavors of Middle Eastern cuisine with this hearty Kibbeh, featuring spiced ground lamb and bulgur wheat. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends and family.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup bulgur wheat
- 1 cup ground lamb or beef
- 1 medium onion
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp allspice
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Method
- 1
Soak the bulgur wheat in water for about 20 minutes until it absorbs the water and becomes soft.
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the soaked bulgur with ground lamb or beef, chopped onion, cinnamon, allspice, salt, and black pepper. Knead the mixture until well combined.
- 3
Take a small portion of the mixture and shape it into an oval or torpedo shape, about the size of a small egg. Repeat until all the mixture is shaped.
- 4
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, add the kibbeh and fry until all sides are browned and cooked through, about 10-15 minutes.
- 5
Remove the kibbeh from the skillet and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 6
Serve hot with a side of yogurt or tahini sauce, and enjoy your traditional Kibbeh.
