Indulge in the comforting flavors of Japanese Katsu Curry, featuring crispy pork loin chops enveloped in a rich, savory curry sauce. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner that warms the soul.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 4 pieces pork loin chops
- 1 cup Japanese bread crumbs (panko)
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cups Japanese curry roux
- 2 cups diced onions
- 4 cups water
- 4 cups cooked rice
Method
- 1
Begin by seasoning the pork loin chops with salt and pepper.
- 2
Dredge each chop in panko bread crumbs, pressing down to ensure they are well coated.
- 3
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the breaded chops for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.
- 4
While the chops are cooking, in another pot, sauté the diced onions until they are translucent.
- 5
Add the water to the pot with the sautéed onions and bring to a boil. Stir in the curry roux and simmer for about 10-15 minutes, until thickened.
- 6
Once the pork chops are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a few minutes before slicing.
- 7
Serve the sliced pork katsu over the cooked rice, topped generously with the curry sauce.
- 8
Enjoy your homemade Katsu Curry!
