Indulge in the warm, comforting aroma of Kanelbulle, a Swedish cinnamon bun that's perfect for cozy mornings or festive gatherings. With a sweet, spiced filling and a soft, fluffy dough, it's a delightful treat for any occasion.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 75 g granulated sugar
- 25 g active dry yeast
- 250 ml milk
- 75 g unsalted butter
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 100 g brown sugar
- 1 large egg
- 1 tbsp water
Method
- 1
In a small bowl, combine the warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, and melted butter. Mix well.
- 3
Add the yeast mixture to the flour mixture and knead until a soft dough forms, about 10 minutes.
- 4
Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Once risen, roll out the dough on a floured surface into a rectangle. Sprinkle with brown sugar and cinnamon, and roll up tightly.
- 6
Cut the rolled dough into 12 equal slices and place on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
- 7
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Beat the egg with water and brush over the buns.
- 8
Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until golden brown. Let cool on a wire rack before serving.
