Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon citric acid
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon pineapple juice
  • 2 cups carbonated water
  • 1 drop yellow food coloring

Method

  1. 1

In a small saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to create a simple syrup.

  2. 2

Once the syrup is ready, remove it from the heat and let it cool slightly.

  3. 3

In a large pitcher, mix the cooled syrup with citric acid, vanilla extract, and pineapple juice. Stir well to combine all the flavors.

  4. 4

Add the carbonated water to the mixture and stir gently to preserve the fizz.

  5. 5

Add a drop of yellow food coloring to the mixture to achieve the signature Inca Kola color. Stir gently again.

  6. 6

Pour the Inca Kola into glasses filled with ice and enjoy your homemade Peruvian soda.
