Savor the warmth of Hrachová Polévka, a traditional Czech green pea soup enriched with onions, garlic, and carrots. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner, this hearty dish is both comforting and nutritious.

Ingredients

  • 200 g dried green peas
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 2 medium carrots
  • 1 liter vegetable broth
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper

Method

    Rinse the soaked peas under cold water and set aside.

    In a large pot, heat the olive oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onion until translucent.

    Add the minced garlic and diced carrots to the pot, and cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables soften.

    Stir in the soaked peas and pour in the vegetable broth. Bring to a boil.

    Reduce heat and let it simmer for about 45 minutes, or until the peas are tender.

    Blend the soup using an immersion blender until smooth or leave it chunky as desired.
