Infuse your gatherings with the vibrant spirit of Ukraine by crafting Horilka, a honey-herb vodka that dances with fresh herbs and spices. Ideal for toasting at celebrations or enjoying with friends on a cozy evening.

Ingredients

  • 750 ml vodka
  • 1 cup honey
  • 1 cup fresh herbs (e.g., dill, thyme)
  • 1 cup spices (e.g., pepper, chili flakes)
  • 1 medium chili pepper
  • 1 piece lemon peel

Method

  1. 1

In a clean glass jar, combine the vodka and honey, stirring until the honey is completely dissolved.

  2. 2

Add the fresh herbs, spices, and chili pepper to the jar. You can adjust the quantity according to your taste.

  3. 3

Add the lemon peel to the mixture for a refreshing citrus note.

  4. 4

Seal the jar tightly and let the mixture infuse for at least 1 week in a cool, dark place. Shake the jar gently every couple of days.

  5. 5

After a week, taste the horilka. If the flavor is strong enough for your liking, strain out the herbs and spices using a fine mesh strainer.

  6. 6

Bottle the horilka in a clean glass bottle and seal it. It can be served chilled or at room temperature.

  7. 7

Enjoy the horilka as a traditional Ukrainian spirit, perhaps alongside a meal or during celebrations.
