Indulge in a refreshing glass of horchata, a traditional Spanish beverage made from creamy tiger nuts, sweetened with cinnamon and vanilla. Perfect for warm afternoons or as a delightful treat at your next gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup tiger nuts (chufas)
  • 4 cups water
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup ice cubes

Method

  1. 1

Soak the tiger nuts in water for at least 8 hours or overnight.

  2. 2

Drain and rinse the soaked tiger nuts under cold water.

  3. 3

Blend the tiger nuts with 4 cups of fresh water until smooth.

  4. 4

Strain the blended mixture through a fine sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl to separate the liquid from the pulp.

  5. 5

Add sugar, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt to the strained liquid. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

  6. 6

Chill the horchata in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour before serving.

  7. 7

Serve over ice cubes in glasses and enjoy your refreshing Horchata de Chufa!
