Savor the taste of Bengal with this crispy Hilsa Fish Fry, marinated in turmeric and chili, and fried to perfection in mustard oil. Ideal for a festive gathering or a cozy weeknight dinner, it's a true seafood delight.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 4 pieces Hilsa fish slices
- 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
- 1 teaspoon red chili powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons mustard oil
- 1 lemon juice
- 1 cup rice flour
Method
- 1
Clean the Hilsa fish slices thoroughly and pat them dry with a paper towel.
- 2
In a bowl, mix turmeric powder, red chili powder, salt, and lemon juice to create a marinade.
- 3
Apply the marinade evenly on the fish slices and let them marinate for at least 10 minutes.
- 4
Spread rice flour on a plate. Dredge each marinated fish slice in rice flour, coating both sides.
- 5
Heat mustard oil in a frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the coated fish slices in the pan.
- 6
Fry the fish for about 4-5 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
- 7
Remove the fried fish and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 8
Serve hot with steamed rice and green chilies for a delicious meal.
