Savor the sweet tradition of Hamantaschen, delightful triangular pastries filled with your choice of fruit preserves. Perfect for Purim celebrations or any festive gathering, these treats are a joy to bake and share.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup fruit preserves or filling
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2
In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 3
Add the egg, vanilla extract, and salt to the butter mixture and mix until well combined.
- 4
Gradually add the flour, mixing until a dough forms. If the dough is sticky, chill it in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
- 5
On a floured surface, roll out the dough to about 1/8 inch thick. Use a round cutter to cut out circles.
- 6
Place a small teaspoon of filling in the center of each circle. Fold the edges up to form a triangle, pinching the corners to seal.
- 7
Arrange the Hamantaschen on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Hamantaschen with a cup of tea or coffee!
