Indulge in the sweet, syrup-soaked bliss of Gulab Jamun, a classic Indian dessert made from milk powder and fragrant rose water. Perfect for festive occasions or a cozy evening treat, these golden delights will warm your heart.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup milk powder
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 cup ghee or unsalted butter
- 1/4 cup milk
- 2 cup sugar
- 2 cup water
- 1 teaspoon rose water
Method
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine milk powder, all-purpose flour, and baking soda. Mix well.
- 2
Add melted ghee or butter to the dry mix and combine until crumbly.
- 3
Gradually add milk to form a soft, smooth dough. Let it rest for 10 minutes.
- 4
In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil until the sugar dissolves. Add rose water and simmer for 5 minutes. Set aside.
- 5
Heat oil or ghee in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Shape small balls out of the dough and gently drop them into the hot oil.
- 6
Fry the balls until they turn golden brown and puff up, about 5-7 minutes. Remove them and allow to drain on paper towels.
- 7
Immerse the fried balls in the warm sugar syrup. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes before serving.
