Indulge in a classic Gugelhupf, a moist and rich German cake infused with chocolate chips and buttery goodness. Perfect for a cozy afternoon tea or as a delightful dessert at your next gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 250 g all-purpose flour
- 200 g sugar
- 150 g butter
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tbsp baking powder
- 100 g chocolate chips
- 1 pinch salt
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a Gugelhupf pan.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
- 3
Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- 4
In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk, until fully incorporated.
- 5
If using, fold in the chocolate chips gently into the batter.
- 6
Pour the batter into the prepared Gugelhupf pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
- 7
Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- 8
Let the Gugelhupf cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
