Ingredients

  • 4 oz butter
  • 115 g butter
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • 12 oz self-raising flour
  • 340 g self-raising flour
  • 8 oz soft brown sugar
  • 225 g soft brown sugar
  • 3 tsp ginger (heaped)
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 3 oz all-bran
  • 85 g all-bran
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • 1/2 tsp salt

Method

    Step 1: Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Step 2: Cream the butter and golden syrup together.

    Step 3: Sift the flour and mix with the brown sugar, ginger, and bicarbonate of soda.

    Step 4: Add the all-bran and mix well.

    Step 5: Combine the dry ingredients with the butter mixture.

    Step 6: Add the beaten egg and salt, mixing until a dough forms.

    Step 7: Roll the dough into balls and place on a baking sheet.

    Step 8: Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Notes

These biscuits are perfect for a snack or dessert. Adjust the ginger to taste.
