Savor the taste of the Netherlands with Frikandel, a spiced sausage made from a blend of beef and pork fat, seasoned to perfection. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a fun gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g ground beef
- 100 g pork fat
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp white pepper
- 1 tsp nutmeg
- 1 tsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp water
- 4 pcs sausage casings
Method
- 1
Soak the sausage casings in cold water for about 30 minutes to soften them.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, pork fat, salt, white pepper, nutmeg, onion powder, and water. Mix thoroughly until well combined.
- 3
Rinse the soaked casings under cold water to remove any excess salt. Then, carefully stuff the casings with the meat mixture using a sausage stuffer.
- 4
Twist the stuffed casings into individual sausages (about 15 cm long) and tie the ends securely. Prick each sausage with a needle to prevent bursting during cooking.
- 5
Preheat your grill or barbecue to medium heat. Once hot, place the frikandels on the grill.
- 6
Cook the frikandels for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are browned and cooked through.
- 7
Remove from the grill, let cool slightly, then serve hot with your favorite sauces and sides.
