Indulge in a creamy Swiss cheese frey, where rich Emmental or Gruyère melds with tender potatoes and a hint of nutmeg. This comforting dish is perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a special gathering with friends.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams Swiss cheese (Emmental or Gruyère)
  • 100 grams potato
  • 1 cup cream
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon garlic
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • Salt to taste salt
  • Pepper to taste black pepper

Method

  1. 1

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 2

In a pot, boil the cubed potatoes in salted water until tender, about 10-15 minutes. Drain and set aside.

  3. 3

In a mixing bowl, combine the grated Swiss cheese, cream, minced garlic, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.

  4. 4

In a greased baking dish, layer the boiled potatoes. Pour the cheese and cream mixture over the potatoes, ensuring they are well coated.

  5. 5

Dot the top with butter for extra flavor and a golden crust.

  6. 6

Bake in the preheated oven for about 30 minutes, or until bubbly and golden brown on top.

  7. 7

Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving.

  8. 8

Serve warm, garnished with fresh herbs if desired.
