Indulge in the creamy sweetness of flan, a classic Latin dessert that combines rich caramel, smooth custard, and a hint of vanilla. Perfect for a special occasion or a delightful end to a weeknight dinner.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 large eggs
- 1 can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 can evaporated milk
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup water
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- 2
In a saucepan over medium heat, add the sugar and cook until it melts and turns golden brown. Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish, swirling to coat the bottom evenly.
- 3
In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and vanilla extract until well combined and smooth.
- 4
Pour the egg mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
- 5
Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and add water to the outer pan to create a water bath.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for about 60 minutes, or until a knife inserted comes out clean.
- 7
Remove from the oven and let it cool at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- 8
To serve, run a knife around the edge of the flan and invert it onto a plate. Enjoy your Colombian Flan!
