Indulge in these delightful French financiers, featuring nutty almond flour and a hint of vanilla. Perfect for an afternoon treat or a special gathering, they pair beautifully with coffee or tea.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 cup almond flour
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 4 large egg whites
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 cup hazelnuts or fruit (optional)
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease your financier molds or use silicone molds.
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine almond flour, powdered sugar, all-purpose flour, and baking powder.
- 3
In another bowl, whisk the egg whites until frothy but not stiff.
- 4
Add the melted butter and vanilla extract to the egg whites, then gently fold in the dry ingredients until just combined.
- 5
Spoon the batter into the prepared molds, filling each one about 3/4 full. If desired, sprinkle chopped hazelnuts or fruit on top.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes or until the financiers are golden brown and a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- 7
Remove from the oven and let cool in the molds for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
