Experience the rich flavors of Persian cuisine with Fesenjan, a luscious chicken stew simmered in pomegranate molasses and ground walnuts. Perfect for a cozy family dinner or a special gathering, this dish is a true celebration of taste.

Ingredients

  • 1 kg chicken thighs
  • 2 cups pomegranate molasses
  • 1 cup ground walnuts
  • 2 medium onions
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 cups water

Method

    In a large pot, heat some oil over medium heat and sauté the chopped onions until they are golden brown.

    Add turmeric powder, salt, and black pepper to the onions, stirring for 1-2 minutes.

    Add the chicken thighs to the pot, browning them on all sides for about 5-7 minutes.

    Pour in the water and bring to a simmer. Cover the pot and let it cook for 30 minutes.

    Stir in the ground walnuts and pomegranate molasses, mixing well. Continue to cook for another 60 minutes, stirring occasionally.
