Warm up with a hearty bowl of Fazolová Polévka, a traditional Czech white bean soup infused with garlic and marjoram. Perfect for cozy weeknight dinners or a comforting weekend lunch.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 250 g dried white beans
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 medium carrots
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 2 liters water
- 1 teaspoon dried marjoram
- Salt and pepper to taste salt and pepper
Method
- 1
Rinse the soaked beans and place them in a large pot with 2 liters of water. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for about 30 minutes or until beans are tender.
- 2
In a separate skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.
- 3
Add the minced garlic and diced carrots to the skillet, cooking for another 5 minutes until the carrots start to soften.
- 4
Once the beans are tender, add the sautéed vegetables to the pot with the beans. Stir in the dried marjoram and season with salt and pepper.
- 5
Simmer the soup for another 20 minutes to allow the flavors to meld together.
- 6
Adjust seasoning if necessary, and serve hot with a sprinkle of fresh herbs if desired.
