Experience the heartwarming flavors of Romanian cuisine with Fasole Bătută, a creamy white bean dip infused with garlic and smoked paprika. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or as a delightful appetizer at gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 250 grams dry white beans
  • 3 tablespoons sunflower oil
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • water as needed water

Method

  1. 1

Rinse the soaked beans and place them in a pot. Cover with water and bring to a boil. Cook for about 45-60 minutes or until soft.

  2. 2

In a separate pan, heat the sunflower oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

  3. 3

Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently to avoid burning.

  4. 4

Once the beans are cooked, drain them and add them to the onion and garlic mixture. Stir well.

  5. 5

Using a hand blender or a fork, mash the beans and combine them with the onion and garlic until you reach a creamy consistency.

  6. 6

Season with salt, black pepper, and smoked paprika. Stir until well incorporated.

  7. 7

Serve warm, drizzled with a little more sunflower oil, and enjoy with crusty bread or pickles.
