Indulge in the refreshing taste of Es Cendol, a delightful Indonesian dessert made with chewy green rice flour noodles, creamy coconut milk, and sweet palm sugar. Perfect for warm afternoons or as a unique treat at gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams rice flour
  • 50 grams green pea flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 500 ml water
  • 200 ml coconut milk
  • 150 grams palm sugar
  • 1 liter ice cubes
  • 1 teaspoon pandan extract

Method

  1. 1

In a mixing bowl, combine rice flour, green pea flour, salt, and pandan extract. Gradually add water, mixing until smooth.

  2. 2

Pour the batter into a pot and cook over medium heat, stirring continuously until it thickens and becomes translucent, about 10 minutes.

  3. 3

Once thickened, transfer the mixture into a mold or tray, spreading it evenly to form a layer. Let it cool for a few minutes.

  4. 4

Cut the cooled mixture into small noodle-like strips (cendol) and set aside.

  5. 5

In a saucepan, combine palm sugar with 250 ml of water. Heat until the sugar dissolves completely to make syrup, then let it cool.

  6. 6

To serve, place cendol noodles in a glass, add ice cubes, pour coconut milk over it, and drizzle with palm sugar syrup.

  7. 7

Mix gently before enjoying this refreshing dessert.
