Savor the warmth of homemade empanadas filled with seasoned ground beef, vibrant bell peppers, and a hint of cumin. These golden pastries are perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 3 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup cold water
- 453.6 g ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 1 medium green bell pepper
- 2 hard-boiled eggs
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon paprika
Method
- 1
In a large bowl, combine flour and salt. Add cold butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- 2
Gradually add cold water, mixing until the dough comes together. Wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes.
- 3
In a skillet over medium heat, cook the chopped onion and green bell pepper until softened, about 5 minutes.
- 4
Add ground beef, cumin, and paprika. Cook until the beef is browned. Stir in the chopped hard-boiled eggs and mix well. Remove from heat and let cool.
- 5
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Roll out the chilled dough on a floured surface and cut into circles, about 4 inches in diameter.
- 6
Place a tablespoon of the beef filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold over and pinch the edges to seal tightly.
- 7
Place the empanadas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
- 8
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your homemade empanadas!
