Bring a large pot of water to a boil over high heat.

Add the edamame pods to the boiling water and cook for about 5 minutes until bright green and tender.

Meanwhile, prepare a bowl of ice water to shock the edamame after cooking.

Once cooked, drain the edamame and immediately transfer them to the ice water for a couple of minutes to stop the cooking process.
