Indulge in a classic French Croque Monsieur, where layers of savory ham and melted Gruyère cheese are nestled between crispy, buttery bread. Perfect for a cozy brunch or a satisfying weeknight dinner.

- 4 slices ham
- 2 slices Gruyère cheese
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard

Preheat a skillet over medium heat.

Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread.

On the unbuttered side of two slices, spread Dijon mustard if using, then layer with ham and Gruyère cheese.
