Indulge in the crispy, golden-brown delight of Coxinha, a beloved Brazilian snack filled with tender chicken and creamy cheese. Perfect for game day or as a festive appetizer, these savory bites will impress your guests!
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 grams chicken breast
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 medium onion
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup cream cheese
- 3 cups breadcrumbs
- 2 large eggs
- to taste salt
- to taste black pepper
Method
- 1
In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Sauté the chopped onion until translucent.
- 2
Add the shredded chicken to the pan, season with salt and black pepper, and cook for about 5 minutes.
- 3
If using, mix in the cream cheese until well combined. Remove from heat and let cool.
- 4
In a pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Gradually add the flour, stirring constantly until it forms a dough.
- 5
Once the dough is cool enough to handle, take a small piece and flatten it in your hand. Place a spoonful of the chicken mixture in the center and fold the dough over, shaping it into a teardrop.
- 6
Dip each Coxinha in the beaten eggs and then roll them in breadcrumbs to coat.
- 7
Heat oil in a deep fryer or large pot over medium-high heat. Fry the Coxinhas in batches until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes.
- 8
Remove from oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
