Indulge in the elegance of Coquilles Saint-Jacques, a classic French dish featuring tender scallops in a creamy mushroom sauce, topped with Gruyère cheese. Perfect for a romantic dinner or a special occasion.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 12 pieces scallops
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup mushrooms
- 1/2 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 1 tablespoon shallots
- 1 tablespoon parsley
- 1 teaspoon lemon juice
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F).
- 2
In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the shallots and cook until translucent, about 2 minutes.
- 3
Add the chopped mushrooms to the skillet and cook until they are soft and the moisture has evaporated, approximately 5 minutes.
- 4
Stir in the heavy cream and lemon juice, then season with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened.
- 5
Place the scallops in individual scallop shells or a baking dish. Spoon the mushroom and cream mixture over each scallop.
- 6
Top each scallop with grated Gruyère cheese.
- 7
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10-12 minutes or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- 8
Garnish with chopped parsley before serving. Enjoy your Coquilles Saint-Jacques hot.
