Indulge in a rich and moist chocolate cake, perfectly balanced with a hint of cocoa and a light, airy texture. Ideal for celebrations or a cozy weeknight treat, this cake is sure to satisfy any chocolate lover's cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 4 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup castor sugar
  • 4 eggs, separated
  • 1/2 cup oil
  • 1/2 cup water

Method

    Preheat the oven to 180C.

    Grease two cake tins and line the bottoms with greaseproof paper.

    Beat the egg yolks, together with the castor sugar, oil and water until light and fluffy.

    Mix the flour, cocoa, baking powder and salt together and fold into the egg mixture.

    Beat the egg whites until stiff and then fold into the cake mixture.

    Divide the mixture into the two cake tins and place in the oven for about 35 - 40 min.

    To check if the cake is ready, press on the top with your fingers. The cake will be ready if it springs back.

    Remove the cakes from the tins and allow to cool.

    Decorate with chocolate icing or whipped cream and black cherries.
