Indulge in a rich Swiss fondue, blending nutty Gruyère and Emmental cheeses with a splash of white wine and a hint of garlic. Perfect for cozy gatherings or a romantic evening, served with crusty bread for dipping.

Ingredients

  • 200 g Gruyère cheese
  • 200 g Emmental cheese
  • 1 cup dry white wine
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • to taste pinch nutmeg
  • to serve as needed crusty bread

Method

  1. 1

Rub the inside of a fondue pot with the halved garlic clove and discard the clove.

  2. 2

Pour the dry white wine into the pot and heat it gently over medium heat until it is warm but not boiling.

  3. 3

In a bowl, combine the Gruyère and Emmental cheeses with cornstarch, mixing well to coat the cheese.

  4. 4

Gradually add the cheese mixture to the warm wine, stirring continuously until the cheese is melted and smooth.

  5. 5

Stir in the lemon juice and a pinch of nutmeg, adjusting to taste.

  6. 6

Once fully melted and creamy, transfer the pot to a tabletop burner to keep warm during serving.

  7. 7

Serve with crusty bread pieces for dipping into the cheese fondue.

  8. 8

Enjoy your authentic Swiss cheese fondue with friends or family!
