Warm your soul with a comforting cup of homemade Chai, blending robust black tea with creamy milk, aromatic spices like ginger and cardamom. Perfect for cozy evenings or a delightful afternoon treat.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons black tea leaves
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 inch fresh ginger
  • 2 cardamom pods crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick optional

Method

  1. 1

In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the black tea leaves, sliced ginger, crushed cardamom, and cinnamon stick if using. Allow to simmer for 10 minutes.

  3. 3

Strain the tea mixture into a separate pot to remove the solids.

  4. 4

Return the strained tea to the heat and add the whole milk and sugar. Stir well.

  5. 5

Bring the mixture to a gentle boil, then remove from heat.

  6. 6

Pour the chai into cups using a strainer to catch any remaining spices.

  7. 7

Serve hot and enjoy your authentic Kenyan chai.
