Warm your soul with a fragrant cup of homemade chai, blending robust black tea with creamy milk, aromatic spices like cardamom and ginger. Ideal for cozy evenings or a delightful afternoon treat with friends.

Ingredients

  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablepoons black tea leaves
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 4 cardamom pods crushed
  • 1 cinnamon stick cinnamon stick
  • 1 inch ginger piece

Method

  1. 1

In a medium saucepan, bring the water to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

Add the black tea leaves, crushed cardamom pods, ginger, and cinnamon stick to the boiling water.

  3. 3

Reduce the heat and let the mixture simmer for about 5 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.

  4. 4

Stir in the milk and sugar, and increase the heat to bring the mixture back to a gentle boil.

  5. 5

Once boiling, remove the saucepan from heat and let it steep for an additional 2 minutes.

  6. 6

Strain the chai into cups using a fine mesh strainer to remove the tea leaves and spices.

  7. 7

Serve hot, optionally garnished with a sprinkle of ground cinnamon or cardamom.
