Savor the rich flavors of this traditional Swiss Cervelas, a delightful blend of ground beef and pork fat seasoned with garlic and thyme. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams ground beef
  • 200 grams pork fat
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup crusty bread
  • 100 milliliters water

Method

  1. 1

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef and pork fat cubes.

  2. 2

Add salt, black pepper, thyme, and minced garlic to the meat mixture and combine well.

  3. 3

Soak the torn bread pieces in water for a few minutes, then squeeze out the excess liquid.

  4. 4

Incorporate the soaked bread into the meat mixture until well combined.

  5. 5

Form the mixture into sausage shapes, about 10-15 cm in length.

  6. 6

Heat a pan over medium heat and cook the sausages for about 10-12 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked through.

  7. 7

Remove from the pan and let them rest for a few minutes before serving.

  8. 8

Serve hot, optionally with mustard or a side of pickles.
