Transport yourself to the sunny coasts of Portugal with this vibrant Cataplana, brimming with tender clams, succulent shrimp, and spicy chorizo. Perfect for a cozy weekend dinner with friends or family.

Ingredients

  • 500 g clams
  • 300 g shrimp
  • 200 g chorizo sausage
  • 1 cup bay leaves
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup cooked rice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method

    Heat the olive oil in a cataplana or a large skillet over medium heat.

    Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent.

    Stir in the sliced chorizo and cook for about 5 minutes until it starts to release its oils.

    Add the clams and shrimp, cover the cataplana, and cook for 10-12 minutes until the clams open and the shrimp are cooked through.

    Season with salt and pepper to taste, and sprinkle with bay leaves just before serving.
