Experience the warmth of Korean comfort food with Budae Jjigae, a hearty stew brimming with savory Spam, hot dogs, and spicy kimchi. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or a gathering with friends, it's a dish that warms both the heart and soul.

Ingredients

  • 200 grams Spam
  • 200 grams hot dogs
  • 150 grams tofu
  • 1 cup kimchi
  • 4 cups water
  • 2 tablespoons gochujang
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 cup ramen noodles

Method

  1. 1

In a large pot, combine water (or broth), gochujang, and soy sauce. Stir well to mix the ingredients.

  2. 2

Add the chopped kimchi to the pot and bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat.

  3. 3

Once boiling, add the Spam, hot dogs, and tofu. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

  4. 4

If using, add the ramen noodles and cook according to the package instructions, usually about 4-5 minutes.

  5. 5

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary, adding more soy sauce or gochujang for spice.

  6. 6

Serve hot in a large bowl, garnished with additional kimchi or green onions if desired.
