Savor the vibrant flavors of Italy with this classic bruschetta, featuring ripe tomatoes, fragrant basil, and a drizzle of olive oil atop crispy ciabatta. Ideal for a summer appetizer or a delightful snack any time.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 4 slices ciabatta or baguette
- 2 cups ripe tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/4 cup fresh basil
- 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven or grill to medium-high heat.
- 2
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped tomatoes, minced garlic, basil, olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix gently until well combined.
- 3
Lightly brush both sides of the ciabatta or baguette slices with olive oil.
- 4
Toast the bread slices on the grill or in the oven for about 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crisp.
- 5
Once toasted, remove the bread and rub one side of each slice with the whole clove of garlic for added flavor.
- 6
Top each slice of toasted bread with the tomato mixture, allowing some of the juices to soak into the bread.
- 7
Drizzle with additional olive oil if desired, and serve immediately while the toast is still warm.
