Savor the crispy, golden delight of Brik, a Tunisian pastry filled with spiced ground meat and eggs. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a festive gathering, each bite is a burst of flavor and warmth.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 4 sheets Malsouka pastry
- 200 g ground meat (beef or lamb)
- 2 large eggs
- 1 medium onion, finely chopped
- 2 tbsp parsley, chopped
- 1 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 500 ml vegetable oil for frying
Method
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, chopped onion, parsley, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until fully combined.
- 2
Take one sheet of Malsouka pastry and place a spoonful of the meat mixture in the center of the sheet.
- 3
Crack an egg directly onto the meat mixture in the center of the pastry.
- 4
Fold the pastry over to form a triangle, sealing the edges by pressing them together tightly.
- 5
Heat the vegetable oil in a deep skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Once hot, carefully add the prepared Brik and fry until golden brown on both sides, about 3-5 minutes per side.
- 6
Remove the Briks from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil.
- 7
Serve hot with a squeeze of lemon juice, if desired.
