Savor the warm, comforting flavors of Bouri, a delightful Middle Eastern bread made with simple ingredients like flour, yeast, and olive oil. Perfect for a cozy weeknight dinner or as a side for your favorite dips and spreads.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g white flour
- 300 ml water
- 10 g salt
- 7 g dry yeast
- 1 tbsp sugar
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1 tbsp sesame seeds
Method
- 1
In a small bowl, dissolve the sugar and yeast in warm water. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and pour in the yeast mixture and olive oil.
- 3
Mix the ingredients together to form a sticky dough. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 5
Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). Punch down the risen dough and divide it into equal portions (about 8 pieces).
- 6
Shape each piece into a round flatbread and place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top.
- 7
Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown and puffed up.
- 8
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
