Indulge in the warm, nutty flavors of Biberli, a delightful Turkish pastry filled with ground almonds and a hint of cinnamon. Perfect for a cozy afternoon tea or a festive gathering with friends and family.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 500 g all-purpose flour
- 250 ml milk
- 10 g active dry yeast
- 75 g sugar
- 1 tsp salt
- 75 g butter
- 200 g ground almonds
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp water
Method
- 1
In a bowl, mix warm milk with yeast and let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Create a well in the center and add the melted butter and the yeast mixture.
- 3
Knead the mixture for about 10 minutes until it becomes a smooth dough. Cover the bowl with a cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- 4
While the dough is rising, prepare the filling by mixing ground almonds, cinnamon, and water until you achieve a thick paste.
- 5
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle. Spread the almond filling evenly over the dough.
- 6
Roll the dough tightly, then cut it into slices about 2-3 cm thick. Place the slices on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 7
Let the slices rise for another 20 minutes, then bake in a preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for about 25 minutes until golden brown.
- 8
Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy your Biberli warm or at room temperature.
