Indulge in the sweet, moist delight of Basbousa, a traditional Middle Eastern semolina cake soaked in syrup and topped with slivered almonds. Perfect for a cozy dessert after dinner or a festive gathering.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup semolina
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 0.5 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • slivered almonds to taste for garnish

    Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F).

    In a large mixing bowl, combine semolina, sugar, yogurt, melted butter, and baking powder. Mix until well combined.

    Pour the mixture into a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
