Indulge in the tropical sweetness of Arroz de Hauçá, a creamy coconut rice dessert infused with vanilla and dotted with plump raisins. Perfect for a festive gathering or a cozy weeknight treat.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup rice
  • 4 cups coconut milk
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup toasted coconut flakes

Method

    Rinse the rice under cold water until the water runs clear to remove excess starch.

    In a large pot, combine the rinsed rice, coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Stir well to combine.

    Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally to ensure nothing sticks to the bottom.

    Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the pot, and let it simmer for about 30-35 minutes or until the rice is tender and has absorbed most of the liquid.
