Savor the bold flavors of Yangnyeom Chicken, a Korean favorite featuring crispy wings coated in a sweet and spicy glaze of gochujang and honey. Ideal for a lively weeknight dinner or game day gathering with friends.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 kg chicken wings
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean red chili paste)
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons honey
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon minced garlic
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds
- to taste salt and pepper
Method
- 1
In a mixing bowl, combine the gochujang, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create the marinade.
- 2
Add the chicken wings to the marinade, ensuring they are well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 hours for better flavor.
- 3
In another bowl, mix together the all-purpose flour and cornstarch. This will be used for coating the chicken.
- 4
Heat oil in a deep frying pan over medium-high heat. The oil should be hot enough for frying.
- 5
Take the marinated chicken wings out of the refrigerator, shake off excess marinade, and dredge in the flour-cornstarch mixture until evenly coated.
- 6
Fry the wings in batches for about 8-10 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Ensure they are cooked through.
- 7
Once cooked, remove the wings from the oil and drain on paper towels.
- 8
Serve hot, garnished with sesame seeds. Optionally, drizzle with additional gochujang sauce for extra flavor.
