Savor the comforting taste of German-style Sweet Sour Beans, where crispy bacon meets tangy vinegar and a hint of sweetness. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or as a delightful side at your next gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 sticks bacon
  • 1 cup minced onion
  • 1 tbsp flour
  • 3/4 cup bean liquid
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 1/4 cup vinegar
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp pepper
  • 1 pkg frozen green beans or 1 can (1 lb) green beans, drained

Method

    Brown bacon until crisp. Remove bacon.

    Saute onion in bacon fat until yellow.

    Stir in flour, add liquid and seasoning; bring to boil.

    Stir in beans. Heat through. Sprinkle with crisp bacon bits. Serve.

    I use almonds on top also and toast in broiler.
