Savor the comforting warmth of Shepherd's Pie, a classic British dish filled with savory ground lamb, vibrant vegetables, and creamy mashed potatoes. Ideal for a cozy weeknight dinner or a family gathering.
IngredientsWhat you need
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 medium onion, diced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 453.6 g ground lamb
- 2 cups mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 1 cup beef broth
- 4 cups mashed potatoes
- 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
Method
- 1
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- 2
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the diced onion and cook until soft, about 5 minutes.
- 3
Add the minced garlic and ground lamb to the skillet. Cook until the lamb is browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes.
- 4
Stir in the mixed vegetables, tomato paste, and beef broth. Simmer for 10 minutes until the mixture thickens, then remove from heat.
- 5
Spread the lamb mixture evenly in a baking dish. Top with the mashed potatoes, smoothing them over the top. If desired, sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
- 6
Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is bubbling.
- 7
Let cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your Shepherd's Pie!
