Savor the vibrant flavors of Southeast Asia with these tender chicken satays, marinated in a blend of soy sauce, garlic, and spices, then grilled to perfection. Ideal for a weeknight dinner or a festive gathering with friends.

Ingredients

  • 500 grams chicken breast, cut into bite-sized pieces
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 8 skewers bamboo skewers, soaked in water

Method

  1. 1

In a bowl, combine vegetable oil, soy sauce, brown sugar, minced garlic, ground coriander, and ground cumin to create the marinade.

  2. 2

Add the chicken pieces to the marinade and mix well, ensuring all pieces are coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

Preheat your grill or barbecue to medium-high heat.

  4. 4

Thread the marinated chicken pieces onto the soaked bamboo skewers.

  5. 5

Grill the skewers for about 10-15 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has a nice char.

  6. 6

Remove from the grill and allow to rest for a few minutes before serving.

  7. 7

Serve the satay with peanut sauce and cucumber slices on the side.
